§ Answer · Basics

What is an AI phone assistant and how does it work?

An AI phone assistant answers incoming calls, understands the caller's request in natural speech and handles it directly: booking an appointment, answering a question, taking a callback or transferring to a person. Auralinx, the AI phone assistant built in Zug, Switzerland, does this around the clock in German, French, Italian, English and over 100 further languages.

Key facts

  • Answers every call, around the clock, including several calls at once.
  • Books appointments directly in the calendar rather than just taking a message.
  • Switches language automatically when the caller speaks a different one.
  • Transfers when a human is needed — with a summary of the conversation so far.
  • Native connections to calendar, CRM and industry systems.

What actually happens during a call?

The assistant picks up and greets the caller with the wording you defined. It works out the request from natural speech, asks follow-up questions where needed, and carries out the matching action: booking a slot in the calendar, answering a routine question, taking a callback, or handing the call to your team.

After the call, the dashboard shows the number of calls, a daily summary, and for each call the full transcript plus the action that was taken.

How is this different from a phone menu or voicemail?

A phone menu makes callers press keys; voicemail records a message. Both defer the work to later and to a person. An AI phone assistant completes the request within the call itself: the appointment is in the calendar when the caller hangs up, not on a callback list.

What can an AI phone assistant not do?

It does not replace professional judgement. Medical, legal and financial decisions belong to a person, and that is exactly what your handover rules are for. Nor does it replace a team on complex, emotional or escalated calls — there, transferring with a conversation summary is the better path.

And it does not invent answers: what it may answer is defined during setup. Anything outside that leads to a transfer or a callback.

Which businesses benefit?

Businesses where a missed call means a lost job, and where the phone competes with the actual work. In Switzerland that typically means medical and dental practices, garages and dealerships, retail and e-commerce, and real estate firms.

Related questions

Do callers notice they are speaking to an AI?

Yes, and deliberately so. The assistant says so in the greeting. Transparency is required under data protection law, and in practice it earns more trust than trying to hide it.

What happens when several people call at once?

All of them are answered simultaneously. There is no queue and no busy signal.

Do I keep my existing phone number?

Yes. Your number stays as it is; you simply set up call forwarding — either fully or only outside office hours, as you prefer.
